Redeeming an e-prescription from a video consultation at the pharmacy
Private e-prescriptions issued via MEDITyme can be redeemed at any local or mail-order pharmacy in Germany. Because the process is not yet routine in every local pharmacy, we answer the key questions about electronic private prescriptions here — for pharmacy teams and for patients.
Four things pharmacies should know
MEDITyme prescriptions cost pharmacies nothing. Patients pay for the medicine themselves, as with any private prescription.
Every prescription carries a qualified electronic signature (QES) under eIDAS — created with sign-me by Bundesdruckerei using the doctor's German ID card.
Under Section 17(4) of the German Pharmacy Operating Regulations (ApBetrO), pharmacies must fill proper prescriptions. This includes electronic private prescriptions from remote treatment.
Patients decide where to redeem. The pharmacy receives the prescription PDF via a release in the patient's health record or by upload.
